What the freakin heck

December 19-Well yesterday I made a trip to the track to shake down my TC3...after realizing I forgot my pinion gear set, I went in and bought some, as well as some AA batteries for the transmitter. Well I hooked everything up, turned on teh transmitter and the car went wild. As it turns out, the receiver crystal fell out, and so I couldn't control it. So I switched to my backup radio. And found that the case was cracked. Man...if this is the reality of RC racing...well, I'll have to make do as best I can. Anybody got an old radio they aren't using anymore?

First trip to the track

November 18, 2006

Well this morning I took my first trip to the track near my house (since Im home on Thanksgiving break). The place smelled of traction compound that's for sure...

I asked around to some of the locals while they were wrenching on their cars. I gotta say the guys were really nice that I talked to. They answered my questions which will really help me in getting ready for my first club race next month. They even offered me some pizza before I left. How cool is that? I expected these guys to be nice but not THIS nice!!! While I was there I also picked up a set of servo mounts for the TC3 while I was there.

On the new car front, I was able to work out a deal for a TC4 which I should have in time for Christmas break.

Well that's it for now but I will definitely make sure to let you know how I do in my first race next entry.

Problems already

November 2, 2006- Well I haven't even run my first prepatory race and already I have problems.

I went into the closet of my dorm room to pull my TC3 out and give it the premilinary once over and lo and behold, the body is very badly damaged and the body posts are bent in towards the center of the car. So I haven't even run a race yet and I already have to replace stuff. THis could be a long few months...

Welcome

Hello out there fellow RC hobbyists.

My name is BJ Williams. I have been involved in the RC hobby for a little over 5 years. I have 4 RC cars (hobby grade RC) 3 Associated, and one Losi. After reading a lot of books and magazines and asking questions, Im finally going to participate in my first big race in February, the Snowbird Nationals. Tis blog is going to take you through all my preparation for that race, and even beyond. You will read about all my racing exploits before that week, all the preparation during the week and of course how I did at the race. Hopefullyyou will get to see the trials and tribulations of an unsponsored racer racing with the big boys too. Enjoy taking a peek inside the "Diary of an independent racer".
